In Ashmuji area of Kulgam district, a public meeting which was attended by hundreds of people. The Chairman of Ummat e Islami and Mirwaiz of South Kashmir, Qazi Ahmed yasir addressing the gathering condemned the arrest of Kulgam Imam who was arrested for leading the funeral prayers of a Mujahid last week.In a statement issued here Mirwaiz Yasir said that the incident is shameful and the state should allow people to exercise their religious duties and rights. He said the state is hell bent upon creating disturbances in the society and spread religious intolerance. "The Imam did no wrong and the state Government that claims to be a Muslim Party should stop arresting religious prachers and Imaams immediately" he said. The chairman said that booking a religious cleric is not a sign of democratic and a civilized set up.
Mirwaiz Yasir stressed on the need of Unity among the Ummah to fight the decisive elements who are up in arms against Muslims. The Muslims of the world need to be strategised and diplomatic to answer these elements who want Muslims to battle each other on the basis of sects and races. "let us not be a battleground to the world powers, Let us act against the rumor and power mongers, Let us Unite against the state and Non State actors who are a threat to World peace in general and Muslims in particular" Mirwaiz Yasir said.Mirwaiz Qazi Yasir also condemned the Shiv Sena's assault on the Chairman of JKLF, Mohammed Yasin Malik and said such fanatic attacks cannot deter the passion of Haji Yasin Malik or any other Kashmiri.
