Terming consistency and involvement of people as the necessary pillars of the ongoing freedom struggle, Hurriyat (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Saturday said Kashmiri people were braving all odds to carry forward the movement and not bowing before the authorities despite facing acute hardships and being victims of severe  suppression and oppression.Speaking at Mustafabad Zainakote, where he had gone to visit the residence of Gowhar Nazir Dar, who was martyred on 07 November, the Mirwaiz paid glowing tributes to him and said sacrifices of youth like him were the real treasure of the resistance movement. He had earlier tried to visit the martyred youth’s residence several times but had failed to do so as he was placed under continuous house arrest. On reaching Mustafabad, the Hurriyat (M) Chairman, who was accompanied by several public delegations, said the biggest tributes to the martyrs like Gowhar would be to remain steadfast and continue forward the ongoing resistance movement for which these people had offered their selfless sacrifices. He said the leadership alone cannot do anything and urged people to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them for taking the Freedom struggle to its logical conclusion.

Mirwaiz said Kashmir’s resistance movement is not new but was started by the Mohajir-e-Millat, Mirwaiz Moulana Muhammad Yusuf Shah in 1931 under the banner of Muslim Conference. He said the direction that the ongoing resistance movement needed to be given had to be decided by the people and the leadership together.Hurriyat (M) Chairman said that the conglomerate had already initiated a process in this direction and called a meeting of the Ulemas, scholars, trade bodies, students unions, lawyers, resistance and civil society groups and representatives from all the walks of life and after thorough discussions and debate to devise a joint strategy for carrying forward the ongoing resistance movement. He said there was no need to get disappointed or dejected as Kashmiris were fighting for a just cause and the Almighty Allah is with them.

Mirwaiz said the blood of martyrs would not be allowed to go waste and a new dawn would break soon.He later headed toward the local Martyrs Graveyard along with a large number of people and prayed for the Jannat-ul-Firdous of the deceased.Hurriyat (M) Chairman later visited Sopore to offer his condolences with the family of senior Hurriyat leader Ghulam Nabi Zaki whose mother has passed away recently.Terming the deceased mother of Zaki as a kind and noble soul and a determined woman, who despite hardships remained steadfast and showed a strong resolve, he prayed to the Almighty Allah for granting her place in Jannat-ul-Firdous and for granting forbearance to the bereaved family. The Mirwaiz also visited the residence of Muhammad Yusuf’s wife and Manzoor Ahmad’s mother at Nawa Kadal, both staunch followers of Mirwaiz and leaders of Awami Action Committee, where he prayed for the Jannat-ul-Firdous of the deceased.
