Stressing upon the wards of police personnel for getting modern education, the Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar has said that access to quality education to make career bright was all the more necessary in the present era of competitive world. He said that the parents have responsibilities to guide their wards towards right path so that they could become responsible citizens of the society.Encouraging the wards of serving police personnel for qualifying the competitive examinations during the year 2014-15, Rajendra today sanctioned special cash rewards of Rs. 10,000 each out of Central Police Welfare Fund with Commendation Certificates in favour of these wards.The students who have qualified the competitive examination in various disciplines conducted by Board of Professional Enterance Examination (BOPEE) in (Medical and Engineering Schemes) are Darshpreet Singh, Nahida Manzoor, Shilpy Koul. Mehrun Nisa, Iqra Bashir, Niha Sharma, Vishant, Arifa Batool Kant, Deepak Koul, Priya Manhas, Styed Saqib Hussain, Neraj Singh, Navneet Singh, Aamir Maqbool and Laksh Kumar Choudhary.
Shamikha Ali was also rewarded Rs. 10,000 for securing second postion in 10th class examination conducted by Board of School Education in 2014-2015.Giving details, Rajendra said that in the present times our youth have to face tough competition to find a place in any professional discipline. He informed that the Jammu and Kashmir Police Organization has been conducting free coaching and counselling classes for these wards to prepare them for participation in competitive examinations. He advised the students to take advantage of these schemes to make their career bright and prosperous.Further, the DGP said that during current year till date, more than Rs. 15 lacs have been disbursed among 947 police wards as scholarships out of Central Police Welfare Fund. He said it is prime duty of Organization to take care of wards of personnel and lead them towards a prosperous future. With the view to promoting education, the department is providing scholarships to the meritorious children, who secure distinction in different examinations up to graduation level. The step envisages encouraging the students and boosting their talent to compete in other professional examinations also. The Organization is also taking care of the wards of martyrs by providing scholarships to assist them in continuing their studies and getting modern education, he added. (KNS)
