The life of Father of journalism in Kashmir Khawaja Sanaullah Bhat (Aftab) was like a shining star .He was a historical personality who’s social and literary efforts will always be written in Golden words. As a responsible person of Kashmiri society he always strived for the rights of Kashmiris.This was stated by the chairman JKLF Mohammad Yasin Malik while addressing a memorial ceremony organized in connection with the death anniversary of Khawaja Sahib at Soura Srinagar. The memorial meeting was organized by JKLF and many JKLF leaders, well-wishers and friends of Khawaja Sanaullah sahib including JKLF leaders advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt, Noor Mohammad Kalwal, Sheikh Abdul Rashid, Muhammad Yasin Butt, Mohammad Sideeq Shah, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, Prof. Javed etc participated in the meeting.The meeting was addressed by JKLF chairman Yasin Malik, journalist Muhammad Yousuf Miskeen, social leaders Khawaja Abdul Raheem, Firdous Masoodi, Muhammad Jamal and others.
On the occasion JKLF chairman Yasin Malik while remembering his close association with Khwaja, said that khawaja Marhoom was like a fatherly person to him. He said that Khawaja Sanaullah was a brave, fearless, and straight forward person. He always wrote what he thought was right and fruitful for the society. He never wrote to please anybody or for getting any personal benefits. He loved Allah and his heart was full of love for Prophet Muhammad SAW.
Yasin Malik said that his biggest contribution to the Kashmiri nation was that he encouraged new generations towards knowledge and taught them how to serve the society. Yasin Malik said that while observing his day today we need to introspect and look keenly what Khawaja sahib stood for. Yasin Malik asked that who is a writer and a true journalist. What is his duty towards the society? And how can he serve his or her nation? These are some vital questions which we need to take account for.
A writer and an intellectual or journalist is who stands for the truth and writes and speaks what benefits his nation, Said Yasin. He said that Khawaja Sanaullah was a writer who possessed all these qualities and had courage and guts to stand for the truth in worst situations. He said that a person who serves his people and leaves better Legacy for them is always remembered by nations and Khawaja was such a person.While referring to present day writers and intellectuals of Kashmir Yasin Malik advised them to follow Khwaja sahib in letter and spirit. Everyone knows the difficulties you face at the hands of tyrants. But these repressive measures do not and should not reduce your obligations and courage, Said Yasin. While paying rich tributes to Khwaja sahib Yasin Malik advised new writers and scribes to make him their ideal. Khawaja sahib was a true Kashmiri and a fearless and incomparable journalist and if we want to be remembered like him, we all should follow him in letter and spirit. (KNS)
