Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar today conducted extensive tour of educational institutions in district Udhampur to personally take stock of the academic and infrastructural facilities there.He was accompanied by MLA Ramnagar, R S Pathania, Director School Education, Jammu, Mrs Smita Sethi, Additional SP Udhampur, M L Kaith, CEO Udhampur, Mr Bishan Singh and other senior officers of the Education Department.During the visit, the Minister inspected Govt Middle School Jallow, Model Girls Higher Secondary School Ramnagar, Govt City Middle School Ramnagar, Govt Girls High School Ramnagar and Degree College Ramnagar.The Minister interacted with the students and the staff of these educational institutions to know about the existing academic and infrastructural facilities.
The Minister inspected classrooms, laboratories, computer laboratories of these educational institutions and also assessed the teaching level. He called upon the teachers to improve the learning capabilities of the students by making use of latest educational tools. He stressed upon the concerned to organize more intellectual debates and hold interactive teaching sessions to build more confidence and improve learning process in students.The Minister asked Director School Education Jammu to make a plan for integrating the Govt Middle School Ramnagar, Govt High school Ramnagar and Govt Higher Secondary School Ramnagar under cluster system.Minister directed CEO Udhampur for ensuring regular inspection of the working, punctuality of staff and checking workbooks of the students for better leaning.
Later, Minister chaired a meeting at DC office Udhampur to review the physical and financial achievements in the Education department in district Udhampur.Minister of State for Finance and IT, Mr Pawan Kumar Gupta, Director School Education Jammu, Smita Sethi, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur, Mr. Angrez Singh Rana, Joint Director Planning Mr Rakesh Jamwal, CEO, District officers, Principals of Degree Colleges, ZEOs as well as senior officers of the Education department were present at the meeting.Minister directed CEO to organize three days inter-school cultural festival soon and stressed on reviving the education system in Udhampur.Minister stressed on integration and rationalization of schools and directed all ZEOs and Principals to complete the process of rationalization of schools and the space at the earliest. He said CEOs, ZEOs should issue tour plan for inspection of schools in advance.
The Minister also called for taking benefit of the convergence plan in education sector and instructed XEN PWD to complete all the buildings under RMSA this year. Principal GDC (Boys) Udhampur was instructed to assess the functioning of GHSS Garhi and help in face-lifting of the school.MOS Finance & IT, Mr Pawan Kumar Gupta put forth various problems and demands which mainly include relocation of GHSS (Girls) Udhampur to some other place, expansion of GHSS (Boys), renovation and face-lifting of GDC (Boys) Udhampur, creation of Biodiversity Park in GDC (Boys). He also stressed to raise the academic standards in the district as well as to organize refresher courses for teachers in order to update them as per modern lines. He also appreciated the cluster system of education department, in order to provide quality education.Earlier, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur Mr Angrez Singh Rana briefed the Minister about the various physical and financial activities of the Education sector in the district.
