Following the suicide by a young aspiring engineering student for “failing” in his Physics subject, the government has declared the examiner as “deadwood” and has ordered his “compulsorily” retirement.Minister for Information and Technology Imran Raza Ansari said has directed the technical Education Department to initiate strictest possible action against the delinquent lecturer and declare the officer as dead wood and compulsorily retire him from his service.“Inquiry was conducted by Director Technical Education into the whole affair, which established that Adnan had passed his Physics paper. But he was declared fail,” Ansari said.Mushtaq Ahmad Tiploo, senior lecturer at Government Higher Secondary School, Jawahar nagar, had evaluated the Physics answer paper of Adnan Hilal son of Hilal Ahmad Gilkar of Hyderpora and had declared him fail.
The lecturer had given Adnan only 28 out of 100.After seeing his result, 17-year-old Adnan committed suicide. Though after revaluation of the answer paper, Adnan was declared to have scored 48 marks in a total pass percentage of 70.04 % marks.“The original answer booklet of Physics paper was also reassessed by the enquiry officer through a subject expert who said that Adnan has socred 50 marks out of 100,” he said.The minister also directed his department to take action against the officers of the State Board of Technical Education (SBOTE) for lack of negligence of duties.“The overall supervision of the evaluation was the responsibility of the board officers,” the minister said, adding action as per rules will be taken against them. He said that in the first instance Secretary SBOTE and Deputy Registrar of SBOTE are being immediately shifted to non-sensitive postings.The minister has also ordered to study the present evaluation system being followed in SBOTE for improving it.
