Senior National Conference leader and Member of legislative Council Dr Bashir Ahmad Veeri on Sunday along with hundreds of party activists took out a protest rally in Anantnag against BJP-PDP government.National conference activists raised anti-government slogans and marched from Dak Banglow to Khanabal Chowk. They were carrying placards reading ‘Stop Killing Youths’, ‘Stop harassing people’, ‘rehabilitate flood victims’ and release wages of ReT’s and employees.Veeri, on the occasion threatened to launch valley wide agitation against anti-people policies of PDP-BJP government, if it failed to mitigate the problems faced by common masses.Earlier addressing the party activists at Dak Banglow, MLC Veeri said that Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Syed befooled Kashmiris at every stage right from elections.

“During elections Mufti Shab asked people to vote for PDP for stopping BJP’s mission 44 but later the same Mufti Syed joined hands with RSS just for the sake of Chair despite ours unconditional support,” Veeri told gathering. He said that Mufti Syed justified the move by saying that New Delhi will provide ample funds to state for overall development but as of now Kashmir has received nothing.“Mufti Shab has to answer now. Why central government is not providing funds to state and why it hasn’t provided funds to state for the rehabilitation of flood victims,” he added. He expressed concern over the way innocent youths are being killed and harassed“No single Kashmiri especially youth is safe. Since PDP-BJP government took over the law and order situation has worsened,” Veeri said.

Veeri said that it has been routine practice of this government to deceive and befool the common masses on petty issues. He said that people want the change that PDP promised election during campaign. “Mehbooba Ji can replace her father only after RSS will permit her. Change of guard is no more an issue. ,” Veeri said, adding PDP must respond to queries of public instead of closing down offices and Banglows in Srinagar. He said that during elections, PDP promised round the clock electricity supply but now with the onset of winter Kashmir is reeling under complete darkness. Veeri said that PDP fooled people with big promises. “During the elections PDP promised that they will take back power projects from NHPC but after taking over; vocal Mebooba Mufti who hoodwinked people by shedding crocodile tears has surprisingly felt silent. He said that PDP after forming government with RSS in state even sold its slogans and press cell.

He also slammed for government for not rehabilitating the flood victims despite the passage of over one year. “We had demanded 44, 000 cr package for flood victims but they (PDP) got peanuts. if BJP is indifferent towards rehabilitation of flood victims then PDP should breakdown the alliance with them on moral grounds,” he added.Dr Veeri also expressed concern over the shortage of eatables and essentials in the state and said, “Situation is grim in the state; CAPD stores in Kashmir are empty. No adequate steps are being taken by this callous government in this regard despite knowing the fact that Kashmir most of time losses surface connection with rest of the world due to heavy snowfall.”Veeri also asked government to release the wages of employees including ReT’s who are facing tough time due to non-payment of their wages. “ReT teacher is north Kashmir has decided to sell his kidney for survival. How shameful is this for the Mufti Government,” he said.He threatened to launch valley wide agitation against anti-people policies of government in-case they tried to implement anti-people agenda. “Today’s protest is to warn government. They must refrain from implementing anti-government agenda,” he added.
