Stressing on the importance of training in enhancing professionalism, the Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar said that an ambitious plan has been chalked out to sharpen the professional skills of JKP. He said that syllabi are revisited from time to time by the academic council in order to enhance capabilities and fulfil modern requirements in training field.Mr. Rajendra was addressing a darbar of trainees and staff at Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) Udhampur today. He said that training is a continuous process in our career to enhance professional skills and rejuvenate the force. JKP has stood at par with the premier police agencies of the country and the Organization is strengthening its training institutions to acquaint the personnel with modern techniques of policing. He said that deployment of the trainees in different fields makes them capable to tackle the situations in better way. He asked the trainees to adopt protective behaviour while dealing the situations in the field.

Mr. Rajendra asked the participants to strengthen their bonds with the public by delivering more efficiently. He said that aggressive behaviour by the force affects police public coordination, which is not practicable by any police force of 21st century.  People friendly policing helps to eradicate the menace of crime in the society and build the image of a police force, he added.DGP also interacted with the Probationary Deputy Superintendents of Police and asked them to imbibe spirit of public service among them. He said the officers have an important role to play in supervising different wings of the force and they have to develop qualities of leadership which would make them competent investigators. Dedication and sincerity in public service is key to success in their future career, said the DGP.

 On the occasion, Mr. Rajendra, chairing a meeting of officers said that measures like modernization in respect of equipment and gadgets as also other aspects of investigations have been receiving high priority of the Organisation. The department has stood at par with the premier police agencies of the country and we are focussing to make JKP a model police force in the country.The meeting discussed various issues relating to the strengthening of training infrastructure in SKPA. It was informed that various specialised courses have been introduced to enhance professional abilities of the personnel.DGP stressed to ponder over new areas of training so that we could depute our officers abroad for advanced training. He asked the Academy administration to focus on providing better facilities to the trainees and the faculty members in a convenient atmosphere. Energetic and well skilled trainers should be identified for their deployment in the Academy, said the DGP.

Mr. Rajendra also took stock of the ongoing constructions in the Academy. He asked to complete the re-construction work of damaged building infrastructure at the earliest.The ADGP (Trainings), Mr. Navin Agarwal, who was accompanying the DGP also addressed the darbar and highlighted the requirements in training sector to make the force capable to deal with law and order situation and other crimes. Earlier, Director, SKPA, Mr. Rajesh Kumar gave a brief resume of training activities of the Police Academy. He said that the academy is running various training courses for state police officers and IPS officers. The Academy has been earning a name throughout the country in conducting advanced courses in different fields of policing and some new chapters have been included in the syllabus to meet the challenges of modern policing.Among others, the DGP was accompanied by IGP, (Jammu Zone), Mr. Danish Rana, DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Mr. Surinder Kumar Gupta,Exen, PCD, Mr. Rashid Mustafa, SP Udhampur Mr. Mohammad Suleman Choudhary, SP Training PHQ Mr. Bashir Ahmad Shah, Asstt Directors SKPA, Mr. Ramesh Chander Kotwal, Mr. Surinder Roa and Mr. Shiv Kumar and other police officers.
