Minister for R&B, Gardens, Parks and Floriculture, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari has asked the concerned authorities to revisit the plan of construction of two flyovers at Dalgate and Radio Kashmir in Srinagar city and come up with a revised comprehensive project which can suffice the purpose for which these have been conceptualized.These instruction were issued by the Minister while reviewing the progress of these projects at a meeting with the officers of ERA, R&B,  Town Planning Organization and Traffic here today. He said that these projects have been framed to ease the traffic pressure at these two busy junctions in the capital city and the concerned departments should work in synergy to ensure bottlenecks are removed for effective execution of the project.

The Minister asked the implementing agency to finalize the issue within a weeks’ time to ensure that work is started early on these two important projects. He said that Government has prioritized streamlining traffic movement and the initiatives taken in this direction will yield good results. The Minister asked the authorities to ensure that aesthetic view of Srinagar city is not affected while implementing the developmental plans. He stressed on being extra cautious for maintaining heritage value of the buildings while implementing development programmes across the state .Syed Altaf said that traffic congestion is still a problem in Srinagar city at certain locations despite move of offices to Jammu and directed IG traffic to ensure adequate corrective measures and deployment of manpower for improving the system.Progress of Rambagh flyover also come-up for discussion and CEO, ERA requested for diversion of traffic on Rambagh-Jahangir Chowk portion in order to pace up the progress on the project.Earlier, CEO ERA gave a power point presentation and informed that Rs. 40 crores are being incurred on these projects while the tendering process has been started for the purpose.Among others, the Secretary to Chief Minister, IG Traffic, Chief Engineer, R&B Kashmir and Director/ CEO ERA attended the meeting.
