Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Asiea Naqash Thursday made a surprise visit to SKIMS Maternity Hospital and took stock of healthcare facilities being provided to patients there.During her visit to the hospital, the Minister said government is committed to provide best healthcare service to people across all healthcare institutions in the state. At the maternity hospital, the Minister interacted with staff, patients and their attendants. She enquired about various facilities being extended to them and directed concerned to maintain better patient care at the hospital.During her visit, the Minister was also informed regarding influx of patients at the hospital, space constraints and other related issues. The Minister also visited under construction 100-bed OPD and IPD blocks.
She was informed around 200 patients visit the OPD section daily.Asiea expressed concern over slow pace of work on the hospital and said that the issue shall be taken up with the Chief Minister and concerned executing agency i.e. JKPCC. Later, the Minister visited nursing college and Child Health Clinic and was given a brief with regard to immunization program being carried out at the centre.The Minister also inspected other sections including dental, USG, X-ray, ECG, immunization, childcare centres, and ophthalmology section.The Minister was accompanied by Director SKIMS and other officials of the hospital during her visit.
