Bikram Singh Majithia, Information and Public Relations Minister, Punjab today called upon PR professionals to focus on feedback regarding the implementation of initiatives of Punjab Government besides communicating the programs and policies of the government to the people at the grass root level. Addressing the meeting of media heads of Public Relations Department, here today Majithia said that Government PR Professionals, especially in the field, are the eyes and ears of the Government and they have to constantly apprise the government regarding the success and failure of its policies at grass root level. He said that while submitting their feedback to the government, the views of the PR professionals should be totally unbiased so that Government could get unfiltered and transparent information from the villages. Focusing on initiatives of the SAD-BJP Government, Majithia said that besides accelerating the tempo of development during last five years, the stress of Government was on Governance Reforms to provide hassle free citizen services to the common man besides making interaction of masses with the Government agencies pleasant. He said that the experiment of Fard Kendras by computerizing all revenue records, the registration certificates of vehicles through vehicle dealers and Sanjh Kendras of police were one of its own kind of initiatives taken by any state in the country. He said that it was now the duty of PR Professionals to submit the citizen point of view of success or failure of these novel experiments so that the services in these areas could be further improved incorporating the suggestions of user citizens. He also sought report from field PROs regarding the people’s perception regarding the success of Right to Service Act.Impressing upon using electronic and cyber media effectively to communicate the message of the Government, Majithia suggested constitution of Special Cell for such media.Underlining the need for taking message of Punjab Government to Punjabi Diaspora, Majithia said that PR Department should also come out with a plan to launch a media campaign in NRI Media. Participating in the meeting Advisor (National Affairs and Media) to CM Harcharan Bains underlined the need for taking the message of development to the people through ‘Special Development Stories’. Principal Secretary Public Relations N.S. Kang, Director Public Relations D.S. Mangat and all media heads participated in the meeting.
