Hurriyat (M) Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who had to visit Mustafabad, Zainakote to offer condolences to the family of the killed youth, Gowhar Nazir Dar, was again placed under house arrest on Sunday.A spokesman of the Hurriyat (M) in a statement to KNS has condemned the house arrest of the Mirwaiz. He said the Hurriyat (M) Chairman was again placed under house arrest just a day after his release from a 10-day house detention and “thus could not visit the residence of Gowhar, who was killed by the Indian forces on the visit of Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi to Srinagar”.Blaming the state government for indulging in political vendetta and politics of intolerance, the conglomerate’s spokesman said the house arrest of the Hurriyat (M) Chairman and other resistance leaders on a routine basis was an example of government’s growing intolerance.

He said the state government had been muzzling all voice of dissent and trampling the rights of the resistance leadership by disallowing them their just right to assemble and right to propagate their ideologies.Hurriyat (M) spokesman said such tactics of the regional government prove all their claims about a democracy are a hoax and means of propaganda that does not cut ice among the freedom-loving people of Kashmir.Condemning the arrest of senior resistance leader, Syeda Asiya Andrabi, the spokesman said instead of releasing the resistance leaders and removing restrictions on their movement, the government was on an arrest spree. He said such arrests were not only undemocratic and immoral but also proves how much vendetta government harbors for the resistance leadership.
