A revision meeting of Electoral rolls for the registration of eligible voters in the district Kulgam was today chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Dr Syed Aabid Rashid Shah.The Deputy Commissioner stressed upon all concerned election officers to ensure cent percent registration of eligible electorate besides deleting the repetitions and removing the dead electorate from the lists while completing the present round of electoral roll revision within the stipulated time.It was given out in the meeting that in the four assembly constituencies of Kulgam, the registration process of the newly eligible voters has been already completed and the process of transpositions, deletions, and modifications will be completed as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India.It was also revealed in the meeting that in the four assembly segments of Norabad, Kulgam HS. Bug and Devsar, a total of 332754 voters including 157869 females have been registered so far in the district. It was also given in the meeting that 316729 voter identity cards have already been issued among 95.18% eligible voters of the district.The Deputy Commissioner while briefing the election officers of the district said that the registration of those citizens who have recently reached the age of 18 years is imperative for their participation in the coming elections. The Deputy Commissioner said that the EROs and AEROs must ensure the registration process is done in transparent manner and is error free.The meeting was attended by all the election officers and Tehsildars of the district.
