Sharjah , 10 Nov 2015

Audiences were treated to a mesmerising show at Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) yesterday (Monday) on at the Expo Centre until November 14. The “Circus Fair” might be the only show which had any empty seats, but only because all the kids were busy queueing up to get on the stage and experience the magic. It was a mindboggling amount of action and a rush of excitement, as kids queued up to get on stage and enjoy a variety of magic tricks performed by “Wakazoo Group” from Lebanon. Most of the magic tricks in the show were designed with kids’ participation as the magician pulled out coins from children’s ears in one trick and made youngsters pull out gifts from an empty bag, which vanished as they put them into another.A wave of awes filled the hall when a pigeon appeared and flew from a painting as the cheerful magician waved his hands over it.

The excitement continued as several kids got the chance to get on stage and work with magician to produce tricks and thrills.Just like the loud Electro-punk music playing in the back ground, the bicycle acrobatics kept hearts thumping. The gravity-defying bicycle acrobatics had some crazy balancing tricks, wheel walking, front and back flips and more. It got even more interesting as the performer tried some stunts by taking assistants from the audience. The bicycle acrobatics is a not-to-be-missed-act for adventurous boys; however they are strictly advised not to try the acts themselves. The monkey jump performed by two acrobats had the stage filled with action as they did the King-Kong chest pounding, cartwheeling and balancing stunts. But to thrill of the audience the acrobats jumped over children’s’ heads and also invited them up on stage for dancing.

According to Antoine Nassif, Head of Production at Wakazoo Group, the circus act also performs exciting aerial, juggling, theatre and Rolla-Bolla shows. He said: “We are really pleased to be back in Sharjah, this is our third year of participation at SIBF since we founded the Wakazoo Group in 2010. We are from Lebanon and have performed in various GCC and other countries including UAE, Egypt, Jordan and Italy. We are also performing a play here on seven forms of art.” The Wakazoo Group will perform the “Circus fair” today (Wednesday) at 10.30 am and 5.30pm and a play titled “Jad and Yara” on November 11, 12 and 14.
