DamdamiTaksal Chief and President of GurmatSidhantPracharakSantSamaj, SantGianiHarnam Singh Khalsa today terming the SarbatKhalsa as Historic Organisation of Sikhs as well as key component of Sikh Traditions and said keeping SarbatKhalsa away from any controversies was the need of the hour. He also gave a call to Panth to maintain supremacy of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.Addressing media persons here SantGianiHarnam Singh Khalsa said that we were in favour of SarbatKhalsa but the center of holding SarbatKhalsa (congregation of Sikhs) should be Sri Akal Takht Sahib besides chalking out its agenda and building consensus of Panth over that and the approval of Panth on this should also be mandatory. He said that DamdamiTaksal has an optimistic view to participate in the proposed congregation under the name of SarbatKhalsa slated for November 10 if the venue is Sri Akal Takht Sahib, ensuring participation of all panthic organizations besides participation of representatives of all Sikh organistions and Sikh Sangat across the world after concurring harmony on its agendum/agenda.
Throwing light on the tradition of SarbatKhalsa, SantHarnam Singh Khalsa said that DhanDhan Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib, founder of Miri-Piri, has created Sri Akal Takht Sahib and from this place the key decisions have been taken. He said that after Guru era the Sikh Panth centralized SarbatKhalsa at Sri Akal Takht Sahib. During Sikh misl period despite major controversies in Sikh affairs, SarbatKhalsa has been held at Sri Akal Takht Sahib reflecting unity in the panth. He said that SGPC was formed after holding SarbatKhalsa in 1920 and significant decisions were taken with a view to free Gurdwaras from the control of Mahants.SantHarnam Singh Khalsa said that DamdamiTaksal organized a massive panthic congregation on 29 November 1985 at its Headquarter GurdwaraGurdarshanParkash Mehta after the operation Blue Star to make aware the Panth, which witnessed huge participation of PanthicOrganisations, families of martyrs besides Sikh sangat. He said during that gathering two major decisions were taken. The first decision was to build structure of Sri Akal Takht Sahib by Sikhs at their own by rejecting the repair was being done by Government and deciding to hold SarbatKhalsa on 26 January 1986, where landmark decisions had also been taken in interests of Panth.
SantHarnam Singh Khalsa said that at present there were various controversies in the Panth and the proposed congregation under the name of SarbatKhalsa will further deepen the issues. He said that the proposed gathering will undermine the tradition of calling SarbatKhalsa and in future some groups will use the tag of SarbatKhalsa by holding gatherings as per their own necessities. He urged the organizers of proposed SarbatKhalsa scheduled for November 10 to think the importance of SarbatKhalsa seriously.SantHarnam Singh Khalsa said that anti-Panth elements were hatching conspiracies to harm Sri Akal Takht Sahib, highest temporal seat of Sikhs and Constitutional Organisation of Sikhs SGPC.SantHarnam Singh Khalsa said KhalsaPanth can also give a call for SarbatKhalsa if the Panth in crisis or in case of losing credibility by Jathedar but the venue should be Sri Akal Takht Sahib. He appealed the Panth to be cautious from conspiracies being hatched by anti-Sikh forces to eliminate the existence of Panthic organizations.
