Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Gulam Nabi Balwan today convened a meeting of prominent citizens social activists, heads of political parties, business Establishments, Bar Associations, transport union ,Trade union and representatives of Sanatan Dharam Sabha and Aquaf in conference hall DC office complex.The informal meeting was organized for better coordination among the citizens and administration on all issues faced by district and also to ensure social and communal harmony in the district.SSP Sandeep Wazir, ADC Kishori Lal Sharma, CPO Dr. Yasir Balwan, Additional SP Abdul Qayoom, ACD kishtwar Akhter Qazi and other senior officers of district administration were present in the meeting.Various issues were highlighted by the participants including dumping of essential commodities in far flung areas for the forthcoming winters ,shortage of staff in the municipal committee Kishtwar , unscheduled power cuts, dilapidated condition of certain roads and drains and shortage of timber in depots.
Participants also demanded that the Kishtwar- Sinthan - Srinagar road should be kept open for the traffic during the festival of Urs to be celebrated on November 10 so that the pilgrims can easily reach Kishtwar from the Kashmir valley through this shortest route. Special checking Squads and teams of officers shall be constituted at block and District level for checking the punctuality of employees in the Govt offices ,CCTV cameras shall be installed at public places for watch and ward ,transportation facilities to be arranged for the employees of new DC office complex Kishtwar , Police post should be established at Bus Stand were other demands placed before the administration in the meeting.
During the interaction the DC highlighted the importance of such interactive sessions in bridging the gap between the society and the Administration and termed it beneficial for the betterment of the society and curbing the evils from the society. He sought people’s cooperation for eradication of social evils from the society and assured all possible support from the district administration.Further responding to the demands of people, he informed that Sinthan Kishtwar highway will be cleared for traffic within 4 to 5 days and in this regard necessary instructions have already been passed to the concerned authorities and work is in progress for clearing snow from the road. On the issue of the augmentation of staff strength of Municipal Committee Kishtwar and unscheduled curtailment in power DC assured that the problems will be soon addressed.All the essential commodities have been dumped in far flung areas like Dachhan, Marwah, Warhan and Padder, he added .He also directed ADC and CPO to establish a Grievance cell in the district and notify its phone numbers for the general public where people can register their complaints and further keep proper track on the disposal of these complaints.
