District Development Board, Udhampur, under Chairmanship of Minister for Health & Medical Education and ARI & Trainings, Choudhary Lal Singh, convened a public consultation meeting to share the plan performance with public and seek public participation in planning process under Single Line Administration with convergence of manpower and resources of all departments in the district under District Development Commissioner.More than 250 sarpanchs, panchs, prominent citizens, members of political parties, social organizations, trade unions, NGOs, village committees and VMC members attended the consultation meeting.Choudhary Lal Singh briefed the community representatives about annual plan performance, new developmental initiatives, investment in social infrastructure and under Centrally Sponsored Schemes. He informed that 4 new meeting halls will be constructed by District Administration with MGNREGA convergence at Latti, Panchari, Basantgarh and Chenani. On demand of MLA Ramnagar he directed Chief Engineer PWD for construction of Conference Hall in Ramnagar.MLA Ramnagar R S Pathania appreciated the efforts of district administration for making attempt towards strengthening the participatory base as envisaged under Single Line Administration and called for greater public interface. He also projected public demands of his constituency. Two additional long-span bridges were approved under Project Rahat on his demand.MLA Chenani Dina Nath Bhagat hailing the concept of convergence of manpower and resources under Single Line administration called for construction of additional bridges and community assets. He demanded special focus of power supply in hilly areas.
Earlier, Convener cum Member-Secretary DDB and District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary presented a resume of activities under taken with participatory planning and convergence between departments which include Construction of 110 foot bridges under Project Rahat for schools and hamlets in difficult areas, 204 water harvesting ponds, Community Orchards, Construction of 445 school buildings with MGNREGA convergence and a host of community assets including sheep sheds, fish pods, NADEPs, Poly Houses, toilets and plantation. He also briefed about performance of departments under District Plan, State Plan and CSS.Chairman DDB directed Rs 40 lakh to be provided for restoration of PMGSY roads in Ramnagar and Udhampur divisions. He also elaborated about initiatives of Health Department for modern health institutions and free diagnostic tests across the state.Community representatives shared their experiences of participation in planning of bridges, water ponds, community assets and infrastructure in current financial year and thanked the district administration for greater public participation. They also projected demands related to developmental works.
