Rapid Action Battalion men have arrested along with some 23 firearms and 531 rounds of bullets from Baurjhuli area in the Sundarbans in an overnight operations, RAB said in a press conference on Tuesday.The arrested Shahinur Sarder alias Shahin, 34 is a member of pirate gang ‘Ilias Bahini’, the RAB said.In the press conference, held at the Labanchara based headquarters of RAB-6, commander of the elite force and also additional deputy inspector general, Khandaker Rafiqul Islam told newsmen that tipped of the RAB men led by Lieutenant Commander M Mahfuzul Islam, the RAB troop carried out the overnight operations at Badurjhuli canal area under Kaira upazila in Khulna and recovered the arms and ammunitions.Journalists were informed that the RAB men arrested pirate gang member Shahin along with an eight-shooter gun and four rounds of bullets after a gunfight between the gang and the RAB. The battalion then recovered 7 pieces double barrel guns, 9 pieces of single barrel guns, 5 pieces of point two -two SA rifles, a Turkey man one-shooter gun and a three not three rifle and the said rounds of ammunitions.
