Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution and Tribal Affairs, Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali, Thursday reviewed the developmental works going on in Kupwara district at SKICC Srinagar here.The Minister, who is also chairman of District Development Board (DDB) Kupwara, reviewed the progress achieved by different departments and executing agencies in completion of the projects during a meeting with the officers of R&B, Revenue, JKPCC, Education, Planning and Development departments here today.Minister for Rural Development & Pachayats Mr. Abdul Haq was also present on the occasion.Mr Chowdhary also reviewed the decisions taken in previous DDB meeting besides their implementation on ground.Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, informed the Minister that 58 percent of total allocated budget for the current financial year has been spent.Mr Ranjan also informed the Minister that Lolav-Zungli Bypass, Badpura Bridge and Children’s Park, Langate, are likely to be inaugurated next month while Hapat’naar Irrigation Tank and SDH Sogam will be completed by the end of December.

The Minister was informed that the R&B completed construction of ten bridges, JKPCC constructed seven bridges and under RAMSA Scheme, 30 buildings were constructed in the Education sector.Directing the officers to expedite the work so that the projects are completed before winters, the Minister also stressed on close coordination between different departments.The Minister said the developmental work gets stalled in the Valley by ending December which signals the onset of harsh winters. He asked the officers to complete targeted works of the year before winters.“It is the endeavour of the government to ensure that the developmental works undertaken are completed within the stipulated time so that the people get benefitted from these. Clear instructions have been passed down the line to ensure time bound completion and officers should synergize their efforts for the same and also see to it that bottlenecks if any are removed”, he maintained.
