Udhampur Police today organized a function to observe Police Commemoration Day and paid rich tributes to police martyrs. After guard of honour, floral tributes were paid to the valiant and brave police martyrs by the Minister of State for Finance & Information Technology,Pawan Kumar Gupta. Police and civil officers, including Deputy Inspector General of Police, Udhampur-Reasi, Mr Surinder Gupta, District Development Commissioner, Udhampur. Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Senior Superintendent of Police, Udhampur, Mr Suleman Choudhary and other district officers.Representatives of various political parties, prominent citizens and family members of the martyrs were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister recalled sacrifices of the martyrs and said that Police Commemoration Day is a momentous, and poignant day on the police calendar to recall and pay rich tributes to the dedicated policemen, who made supreme sacrifices to protect life and property of the citizens.He said that the day also provides an opportunity to share grief of the families of police martyrs.DIG Police, Udhampur-Reasi threw light on importance of the Day and also recalled supreme sacrifices of the police martyrs.Later, the Minister and DIG interacted with families of police martyrs and enquired about their welfare and assured full support and timely action on requests submitted by them.The martyr families were also presented with gifts by the Minister and senior civil and Police functionaries.
