Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today said the Punjab government would unearth all conspiracies behind the ghastly desecration of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib at Bargari village in Faridkot which had led to widespread emotional outbursts across the State.Talking to newsmen at the police headquarters here, the Deputy CM said his government had made it its mission to arrest the culprits behind all incidents of sacrilege and had solved almost all the cases including the incident at Bargari village.Assuring Punjabis that the government would get to the bottom of the conspiracy to disturb peace in Punjab, he appealed to the people to hold Akhand Paths and hold prayers for "Sarbat da Bhalla".
Addressing the media, Mr. IPS Sahota, ADGP (Crime), who is also heading the special investigation team constituted for the investigation of the incidents of sacrilege, informed that out of total 7 cases, the Punjab Police had traced 5 cases while 2 other cases were under investigation. The police officer said In the Bargari incident, the Punjab Police had arrested two brothers namely-Rupinder Singh and Jaswinder Singh after intercepting their mutual as well as Rupinder's foreign calls to Australia and Dubai. He said that during the interrogation, the foreign link as well as funding had been established while the other incidents happened in Kohrian (Sangrur), Nijjarpura (Amritsar), Ghawaddi (Ludhiana) and Bathh (Tarn Taran) were of localized nature.Mr. Sahota informed that during interrogation of Rupinder Singh, it has been found that he has been talking with their masters abroad and discussed about delivery of cash to them in lieu of their acts of committing sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.
He further said that in Kohrian incident accused Hardev Singh has been arrested. He was working in the Gurudwara for the last 3-4 years and admitted to his crime. During interrogation it was revealed that he was nursing the grudge of getting poorly paid despite working round the clock in comparison of the granthi of gurudwara sahib. Similarly, in case of village Nijjarpura, the granthi Jagdish Singh has been arrested as after the investigation it was found that he himself had torn the pages of Sri Guru Granth Sahib so that more offerings would be made to the Gurdwara. The ADGP Crime revealed that in the incident of village Ghawaddi Gurudwara sahib, the police has arrested Balwinder Kaur and Sikander Singh and during investigation it was found that she had committed this crime with the motive to create oust the present granthi so that her son could get chance to again become President of the gurudwara committee.
Replying to a query, Mr. Sahota said that there was no link established between Bargari incident and pardon of Dera Sacha Sauda by Sikh Clergy. During the press conference, Mr. Sahota also shared the clips of conversation between Rupinder and his foreign master and between both brothers Rupinder (Mob-92176-60002) and Jaswinder , who was using his relative Gurbachan Singh's number (98722-14055). He talked to his brother on 16th October at 10:45 AM and to his foreign master in Australia on October 15 at 10:37 AM.
