Artworks displayed at the Sharjah Children Biennial (SCB) are to be auctioned for charity in October and November in Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The Biennial Auction, under the theme “Together 4 ANA” will be held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Supreme Council for Family Affairs. All proceeds will go to “Ana”, a childhood cancer initiative that falls under Friends of Cancer Patients’ umbrella initiative “Kashf” for early detection of cancer.  The initiative came to light in November 2014 instigated by Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, Founder and Royal Patron of the Friends of Cancer Patients charity (FoCP), International Ambassador of the World Cancer Declaration for Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and International Ambassador for Childhood Cancer for UICC. The artworks were created by children aged 6-18 years old from 11 Arab and foreign countries and have been much admired by critics, artists and audiences, due to the creativity of the children, many of whom came from different parts of the world.

Some of these children were homeless and stateless, while others were living with a disability.  All expressed through their artwork their feelings, concerns and dreams of a better future and a world free of pain, hunger and war. The first auction will be held on Tuesday, October 20th, at the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, at 4:30pm. The second auction will be held on Thursday, October 22nd, at the Dubai International Financial Centre, Ajyad Gallery, from 5-7 pm, while the third will be held in Abu Dhabi, from November 17 to 21, during Abu Dhabi Art currently taking place at Al Saadiyat Island.Reem BinKaram, President of the Sharjah Children Biennial said, “Art is often used to help us process and understand life and difficult feelings and circumstances. This leads individuals to appreciate art, understand others and leads to self-discovery. Philanthropists are called upon to be present at the auction to both motivate creativity and help children with cancer who cannot afford the cost of treatment. Participation in this charity auction helps support life and art at the same time as these creative artworks produced by children, will help other children with cancer.”
