DDC convenes public grievances camp, assesses people’s problems

With a view to bring the governance at the door steps of common masses and to mitigate their grievances, District Development Commissioner, Kishtwar, Baseer Ahmed Khan accompanied by officers of Revenue, PHE, Education, PDD, PWD, Social Welfare, CAPD, PMGSY, GRIEF and Health etc. held a Public Grievance Camp at Drabshalla block of District Kishtwar.A large number of people including Panchs and Sarpanchs of adjoining villages participated in the camp. The sarpanchs of Drabshalla, Bhotna churiyan, Tatani, Nag bhatna, Bharoti, Bhadhat and other panchayats spoke on the occasion. They highlighted their various demands regarding the construction of roads, schools, health institutions and other problems. However their main demands were related to the Compensation claims under the Rattle power project, providing employment to the local population in the project and implementation of corporate social responsibility Plan by the management of Rattle power project.

Khan informed them that the management of project will implement the Skill Development Programme for the youth belonging to the 273 project effected families immediately. In this context he directed the revenue authorities to verify the lists submitted by the management. The youth of these families will be sent to various technical institutions for the same.Regarding the construction of a Hospital at Drabshalla under SR plan, the management was asked to identify 50 kanals of land for it with the assistance of revenue authorities. The DDC made it clear that it should be a state of art hospital with all facilities. The Project management will also procure two Critical Care Ambulances for the district.For the construction of Sports Stadium and Airport in Kishtwar, Khan said that a survey will be held so that work can be started on these prestigious projects. Khan also asked the management to chalk out a programme for Afforestation with the Forest Department and contribute in maintaining environmental balance in the region. An 8 km road will also be constructed for Kountwara village. People also complained about dumping sites of debris of Rattle project and said that huge dust is generated causing health hazards. DC directed the management to use sprinkles while dumping material and create dumping sites far from populations. Other issues regarding other departments were also discussed. DC directed the Social Welfare deptt, DIC Animal husbandry etc to hold 4 camps in every 3 months to create awareness among masses.
