The Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir today inaugurated one day mega Employment Fair at Kanichek Kreeri, Pattan. The Fair was organised by District Employment and Counselling Centre, Baramulla in collaboration with district administration Baramulla.

About 35 stalls of different departments and agencies have been set up in the fair to provide awareness to the unemployed educated youth and masses about various welfare and self-employment schemes launched by the government. The Minister went across different stalls established by the department and various agencies during the Fair.The Minister called upon the youth to avail maximum benefits of the fair and welfare programmes which has been especially designated for unemployed youth for setting up of their own income generating units. Lauding the efforts of Employment and Counselling department for organising such fairs, he said the fair will go a long way in educating people in general and unemployed educated youth in particular about the various steps and centrally sponsored self-employment schemes. He pointed out that such types of programmes will play vital role to educate youth about these schemes.

Mir stressed the need that only self-employment scheme is the big option to solve the problem and for this purpose the govt is providing soft loans on subsidy basis to the intending unit holders. He asked the officers to hold such awareness camps in which to involve youth and provide awareness. He said that people especially youth had shown keen interest in various self-employment schemes and exhorted upon the educated youth to set up their own income generating units rather than running after government jobs.On the occasion, District Development Commissioner, Baramulla, Mr. Ghulam Ahmad Khawaja, heads of line departments, Panchs, Sarpanchs and large number of educated youth participated in the Fair.
