Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, Tuesday said two Municipal Committees, Thanamandi and Rajouri, exist in Rajouri constituency.In reply to a question by Choudhary Qamar Hussain, MLA Rajouri, the Deputy Chief Minister said Rs 275.71 lakh revenue has been earned by these municipal committees and Rs 1478.17 lakh has been allocated to them during the last two years."Rs 100.117 lakhs have been spent on 129 developmental works by these two committees in Thanamandi and Rajouri. Under Swatch Bharat Mission, a sanitation drive was conducted by the Municipal Committee with the help of District Administration, Schools and NGOs along with an awareness camp," he said.
Dr Singh said the government has identified land for construction of Solid Waste Management Plant in the area. "As and when the land is transferred to Municipal Committee Rajouri, the construction work will begin. One JCB and one tipper have been purchased for smooth conduct of sanitation work out of the Committee’s own resources," he said.The Minister further informed the House that 70 building permission cases have been approved by the committee and also Death and Birth Certificates issued online. "To provide the streetlights to the Municipal inhabitants, Municipal Committee Rajouri is maintaining streetlight by repairing old streetlights and also by installing lights on the demand of public," he said.
