Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution and Tribal Affairs, Ch Zulfkar Ali today said that the Government is evolving a mechanism to ensure that under privileged segments of the society like nomads get enhanced educational facilities to enable these people face all impending challenges with added vigor and strength.“Educational institutions for tribals need to be improved to make them inclusive tools to bring this neglected section out of backwardness and  to  build self confidence and inner strength  among tribals to face future challenges”, the Minister said  while interacting with members of Gujjar and Bakerwal Advisory Board here today.

The Minister, while elaborating on various measures being initiated to promote the interests of these poor people, said that all Gujjar and Bakerwal hostels would be refurbished, streamlined and rationalized with a vision to convert these into residential schools.Vice Chairman State Gujjar and Bakerwal Advisory Board, MLA Rajouri were also present in the meeting.Zulfkar said that concerted efforts would be made by roping in all line departments to achieve optimum outputs and effective implementation of various welfare programmes and schemes designed for tribals upliftment and emancipation. He said focus should be laid on identification of root cause of backwardness of marginalized section so that these could be addressed on priority basis.Other issues deliberated upon in the meeting included settlement of nomads, establishment of mobile schools, inter district recruitment, better infrastructure in existing Gujjar & Bakerwal hostels and related matters.
