The Minister for Higher Education Mohammad Akbar Lone Thursday directed the executing agency Jammu and Kashmir Project Construction Corporation (JKPCC) to start construction work on Government Degree College (GDC) Sarh Bagga Mahore Reasi building immediately. He also asked the revenue authorities to notify the already identified land required for the purpose.These directions were given by the Minister while chairing a meeting of officers of Higher Education, JKPCC and revenue authorities here today, convened to review status of land acquisition process and other formalities.Member Legislative Assembly, Mohore Mr. Abdul Gani Malik, Secretary Higher Education Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmad, Director Colleges Dr. Kawoosa, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Reasi, Superintendent Engineer, JKPCC, Principal of the College and other officers attended the meeting.
It was informed in the meeting that 60 kanal land has already been identified for construction of the College Campus and more 25 kanals is also made available.He was also informed that under the plan project, Rs.1.41 crore has been kept available for the construction of the college building.It was further informed in the meeting that Rs. 4 core has been sanctioned for acquisition of land for different colleges of the State and the proposal for additional Rs.9 crore required for the purpose has been sent to the Planning and Development department for approval.Mr. Lone directed the concerned to acquire the required land for GDC Sarh Bagga Mahore to ensure early start of work on the building and meet its requirements in future.The Minister directed the JKPCC and Higher Education authorities to work in coordination for early completion of college buildings. He asked the Corporation to consider the suggestions of Higher Education department before formulating the topical design of the project. He also asked the JKPCC to submit the design of the college building immediately and start construction work on the project on war footing basis.He said the Government is committed to make available modern infrastructure in all higher education institutions and provide quality education to the students of the State, especially those living in hilly and remote areas.
