A two-day Employment Fair began here today to showcase government-sponsored schemes for job seekers. The Fair at SICOP ground here being organized by Employment Department was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner Pulwama, Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Lone.District Development Commissioner inspected all the stalls set up by various departments in the Employment Fair. Speaking on the occasion the District Development Commissioner stressed upon the unemployed educated youth to avail the benefits of the self-employment schemes launched by the government.“He advised the educated un-employed youth that instead of depending upon government jobs they should opt self-employment and set up their units,” The District Development Commissioner added that by availing the schemes the youth could open job opportunities even for others. Various Government departments and institutions have set up 25 stalls at the fair to highlight programmes and policies aimed at helping the job seekers to establish their income generating units.
A large number of educated unemployed youth participated in the fair and acquired awareness about the self-employment schemes.
As many as 25 Government departments including Employment, Agriculture, Sheep and Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, Floriculture, Sericulture, Fisheries, Social Welfare, Handicrafts, Science and Technology, District Industries Centre, Cooperative, Science and Technology, J&K Bank, Jammu Kashmir Entrepreneur Development Institute (JKEDI), which provides self-employment schemes under SK Employment Welfare Programme for youth and successful entrepreneurs had also set up their stalls.On the occasion, a special cultural programme was presented by the information department Pulwama.All the allied officers of the district administration were also present on the occasion.
