Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh said that the Armed Forces Flag Day observed every year on 7 December was a special occasion for the common citizens to commemorate the bravery and supreme sacrifices of the soldiers. Shri Virbhadra Singh was pinned up with the Armed Forces Flag here today by Shri Ashish Singhmar, Deputy Commissioner, Hamirpur, who is also Director, Sainik Welfare.Chief Minister said that it was duty of every citizen to contribute generously for the welfare of the families of the soldiers who laid down their lives for the cause of the nation and also for those who had been injured. The amount collected on this occasion would be utilized for the benefit and empowerment of widows, disabled soldiers-sailors-airmen, ex-Servicemen and their dependents and also for serving personnel.Shri Singhmar apprised the Chief Minister that this year Armed Forces Flag Day will be celebrated up to 31 March, 2014 in the State.Shri V.C Pharka, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Shri Subhash Ahluwalia, Principal Private Secretary to the Chief Minister, Shri Subhashish Panda, Secretary, GAD and Capt. Sher Singh, Welfare Organiser, Sainik welfare Department, Shimla were also present on the occasion.
