As a part of the efforts of the Department to provide exposure to the farmers, Minister of State for Agriculture, Sheep & Animal Husbandry Nazir Ahmad Gurezi today flagged off a group of 24 progressive farmers representing all the districts of Jammu pision to participate in “EIMA Agrimach India 2013” at IARI, Campus New Delhi from Krishi Bhawan Talab Tillo, Jammu.The farmers are also accompanied by 11 officers of field and agriculture engineering wing.The Minister while deliberating on the occasion said that the farmers and accompanying officers have got a unique opportunity to learn from this international level Conference-Cum-Exhibition of showcasing modern agriculture machinery, input services, agro-processing machines and on-the-spot live demonstration of agri-equipments. He called upon them to acquire and update their knowledge about latest agriculture machinery, their use along with supply chain in the Conference cum Exhibition.
Mr. Gurezi said that there is a great need to modernize the agriculture to make it more profitable and enterprising for sustainability.
On the occasion, Director Agriculture Jammu Mr. Ajay Khajuria apprised the Minister that the event will provide an exposure regarding a variety of fuel and labour efficient latest machines for land preparation, sowing, inter culture, harvesting, threshing, combines, post-harvest processing and storage.He also informed that the programme is being organized jointly by Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and UNACOMA, Italy during December 5-7, 2013. Department of Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture, GOI, is the co-organizer of this mega event where a large number of overseas and Indian companies, manufacturers and supplying agencies will exhibit latest farm machinery, equipment and technologies. Joint Director Agriculture (Extension) Dr. S.S Jamwal also interacted with the farmers on the occasion.Joint Director (Inputs), Mr. Sushil Sahni, Deputy Director (Central), Deputy Director (Trainings), Agriculture Chemist and other officers were also present at the flagging off programme.
