Minister for public Health Engineering and Irrigation and Flood Control Mr. Sukhnandan Kumar today visited the proposed site for construction of lift irrigation scheme at Jodhpur, Doda.The proposed scheme aims at to increase farm productivity in this rain fed areas by developing irrigation facilities as envisaged in the recently launched Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY),While briefing the Minister about the scheme, Commission, secretary PHE , Irrigation and Flood Control, P.A Malik said that the jodhpur area, located at a distance of 13km from district headquarters and connected with fair weather road has no natural source for irrigation through gravity in near vicinity.He said the area comprises 10 villages of Palao, upper and lower Kilwan, Balana, Gowari, Dewal, Bhagwana, upper and lower Bhatta, Bhulla and upper/lower Kashore with 6336 Kanals of un irrigated land.
To improve the productivity, the lift irrigation scheme is proposed for the area, he said and added that the scheme is being undertaken under cultural command area . As per the preliminary project report the total lift height up to delivery tank has been estimated at 590m and total length of rising main at 1600m with a discharge rate of 17.50 cusec at delivery tank.The Minister was told that the preliminary survey data has been submitted to mechanical Irrigation construction division Jammu for providing design of electrochemical component. It was further informed that the DPR will be prepared as soon as the design/ estimation of electrochemical component along with feasibility report are is received. These will be further submitted to Government of India for approval, he added.
The Minister directed the Commission secretary to ensure completion of DPR within 20 days to ensure that the same is submitted to Government of India for approval at the earliest.The Minister also inspected different water supply installations and directed for speedy completion of restoration work all the water supply schemes damaged due rains and landslides He directed the PHE to ensure proper filtration and treatment of water before supplying it to the households for consumption.MLA Doda Mr Shakti Raj Parihar, DC Doda Mr Bhupinder Kumar, SSP Doda, Mr Z.N Manhas, ADC Doda M. H Malik, XEn PHE Doda, Mr A.W Zargar, XEN Irrigation and flood control, Mr Dewan Chand among other officers accompanied the minister during the tour.
