Punjabi Book ‘Lakkad De Bhande” based on different short stories written by journalist and writer Tarsem Singh Deogan has been released at Rana Daljit Singh Hall at Punjabi Bhawan, here today. Police Commissioner Paramraj Singh Umranangal, Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Narinder Bhargava, Former President of Punjabi Sahit Academy and noted poet Prof. Gurbhajan Singh Gill, eminent literary person Prof. Ravinder Bhatthal, Veteran Journalist and author Harbir Singh Bhanwar, Eminent theatre personality Dr. S. N. Sewak and veteran social worker Darshan Arora released the book.While addressing the gathering Prof. Gurbhajan Singh Gill said that arrival of a writer in the field of literature is like addition of new member to the family. The Punjabi literature has high hopes on young writers.He further added that the writer Tarsem Singh Deogan has performed his duty towards the society. He brought his opinion in the shape of books about his observations what he has encountered in the society.
Critic Dr Gulzar Pandher said, the book brought the flip side of society to the surface. The story ‘Lakkad De Bhande’ has revealed the condition the girl child in rural areas. The writer picked up the subject and gave it a twisted end.Noted Poet Jaswant Zafar said though it is first book of the writer, but being a journalist he has written the books with maturity. Harbir Singh Bhanwar said, he knows Tarsem Singh Deogan from past 15 years when he has joined journalism. Deogan has news sense as well as sixth sense to pick the subject and to pen down it. Dr. SN Sewak said the face of society uses to reflect in the stories of a writer. He welcomed the new writer in the world of literature.
Tarlochan Singh, noted theatre artist and writer said being a journalist Deogan use to keep a sharp eye on the happenings and use to ink it. Many theatre groups have staged plays based on the stories written by Deogan that grabbed the eyeballs of the audience.In the end Deogan has paid gratitude to all eminent personalities and guests. He said, his first books consists ten short stories based on different issues. He is working on some more projects.The others who were present on the occasion were Astrologer Sukhminder Singh, Sangeeta Bhandhari head of NGO Ahsaas, Dr. Sandeep Jain district president People For Animals, several journalists and literary persons.
