In view of the ensuing festival of Eid-ul-Azha Deputy Commissioner Poonch on Friday chaired a meeting of officers and representatives of Butchers Association in Poonch regarding fixation and strict enforcement of rates of mutton, chicken and other commodities.Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Shafiq Ahmed Choudhary, Tehsildar Haveli, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt, Assistant Director CA&PD, Naseeb Choudhary, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Dr. Mohammad Ismael, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Dr. V K Bhalla, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety, Tariq Mehmood, Assistant Controller Legal Metrology, Kewal Krishan, CEO Municipal Council, Irshad Sofi besides representatives of Butchers Association attended the meeting.The meeting decided that the rate of live goats and sheeps shall be Rs. 180 per kg and for cut meat Rs. 300 per kg.
However, these rates shall remain operative till 27th of September only. Deputy Commissioner directed the officers of CA&PD, Food Safety and Legal Metrology to strictly enforce the rates fixed and stressed upon the representatives of Butchers Association to refrain from indulging in anti-consumer practices.Mr. Wani particularly stressed for ensuring cleanliness in the butcher houses and asked them to ensure supply whole day on 25th and 27th of September. The concerned officers were also directed to keep a check on adulteration of various eatables besides keeping an eye on the market to ensure availability of meat besides all other essentials at reasonable/fixed rates. He also asked them to carry out regular market checking during the festival to keep anti-consumer practices at bay.During the festival of Bakr Eid DDC has asked the concerned officers to keep a close watch on the livestock’s trading at college ground Poonch and other designated places so that customers are not fleeced by the unscrupulous traders.
