In view of ensuing Eid-ul- Azha, Minister for Consumer Affairs, Public Distribution and Tribal Affairs Ch Zulfkar Ali Friday convened a meeting with officers of CA&PD department and other law enforcement agencies to ensure availability of essential commodities in market and to check profiteering.The Minister instructed Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Simrandeep Singh to constitute inspection squads in the district to keep a check on rates and black marketing.He also directed IGP Jammu, Danish Rana, to ensure all security arrangements are in place before the festival. The IGP informed the Minister that all necessary instructions in this regard have been issued to the concerned in all districts for smooth conduct of the festival.Zulfkar directed PDD and PHE authorities to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply during the period.

He directed Municipal Commissioner Jammu, Mandeep Kaur, to ensure that cleanliness is maintained in and around mosques and other prominent areas in the city.The Minister also instructed Director CA&PD, G S Chib, to constitute a committee to ensure fixing of rates for live animals and coordinate with Sheep Husbandry Department to check overcharging and profiteering. He also asked him to ensure adequate availability of wheat, rice, chicken, vegetables, sweets and other essential commodities in the market for convenience of general public.Meanwhile, Legal Metrology Department was directed to keep a check on use of weighing scales in the market.
