Minister for Social Welfare , Forests, Ecology and Environment Mr. Bali Bhagat today started tree plantation campaign,  organized by Department of Social forestry and  Aircel Women Welfare Association (AWWA) by planting a sapling at his official residence  and also alongside the Ranbir  Canal Jammu.Chief Conservator of Forests Jammu, Roshan Jaggi, Regional Director, Jammu Social Forestry, Roop Avtar Kour,  Sale Head Aircel Rakesh Kumar, officers of the various departments and members of the civil society also participated in the plantation drive.While speaking on the occasion, the Minister appreciated the efforts of Aircel to increase the green cover in Jammu and emphasized on the importance of protecting and preserving the environment.

The Minister emphasized that extensive public participation is must for the success of such initiatives. He added that the department of Forest and Environment reiterate its pledge to work for Clean Air, Clean Water, Clean Energy, Clean Environment and more Green.Mr. Bhagat said that it is responsibility of each and every individual to take care of the environment, protect and preserve it for future. Good life for our future generation will come not only from bank balances, assets etc. but from a healthy environment for them to live in, the Minister maintained.He also urged every citizen to plant a tree in the name of each child in their family for a better future.Mr. Bhagat informed that the Department of Forest, Ecology and Environment has a number of unique pro-environment programmes like ‘Smriti-Ban’, Green Jammu Project which would be launched soon.
