Education Minister Naeem Akhtar Sunday said disruptive elements don't want positive messages to come out of Jammu and Kashmir where a process of political assimilation and economic reconstruction has began under the new government.Speaking at the Seshrang event, organised by Kashmir Music Club (KMC) in the lawns of Botanical Garden flanking the Dal Lake, Mr Akhtar said the events at Hazratbal locality are attempts to subvert the revival of normalcy in the state.Pertinently, on Sunday morning a group of miscreants created ruckus at the venue of "Big Kashmir Marathon" organised by the State Government's PHE Department and a private group.

These handful of people tried to portray the event and our state in a negative manner, but they have miserably failed," Mr Akhtar said.Seshrang event is being organised annually from last six years by KMC headed by J&K prominent singer and artist Waheed Jeelani to celebrate Kashmiri music, "This is out attempt to preserve our own musical culture and to keep our rich tradition and identity alive through Kashmiri sufi music," Jeelani said at the event.The Education Minister said the musical event is a tribute to the resilience of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, "This is the real side of Kashmir. It is a message to people across the globe that we are all about peace, progress and prosperity," he said.
About 400 students, drawn from various schools, participated in the event which was for the first time telecast live of DD Kashmir and ETV Urdu. The school children sung prayers like Sir Alama Iqbal's "Lab Pe Aati and Mehjoor's "Walo Ho Bhaagwano" at the artist.About 20 artists drawn from all the three regions of the state also performed a Chakri along with a light music performance by another group of artists. Seven artists from the state were also honoured by Education Minister at the event which started at 4 pm and ended at 6:30 pm.
