As per the directions of National Legal Services Authority and of Hon’ble Justice S.S. Saron, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court-cum-Executive Chairman, Punjab Legal Services Authority, and under the guidance of Sh. Tejinderbir Singh, Member Secretary, on 12.09.2015, a National Lok Adalat was organized by District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar, (Mohali) to deal with the Criminal Compoundable Matters.Two benches, each headed by Sh. Dilbagh Singh Johal, Additional District and Sessions Judge, SAS Nagar, (Mohali) and Sh. Aashish Saldi, Additional Civil Judge, (Sr. Div.), SAS Nagar, (Mohali) were constituted in Judicial Courts Complex, SAS Nagar, (Mohali). 2467 cases were taken up and 2284 cases were disposed off in the National Lok Adalat and settlement of Rs.11641191/- was arrived.
One bench was constituted at District Transport Office, SAS Nagar, (Mohali), headed by Sh. Karan Singh, District Transport Officer, SAS Nagar, (Mohali).One bench headed by Sh. P.S. Kaleka, Additional Civil Judge, (Sr. Div.), Derabassi at Sub-Division, Derabassi and another by Ms. Ekta Uppal, Civil Judge, (Jr. Div.), Kharar at Sub-Division, Kharar were also constituted.Sh. Parminder Pal Singh, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority SAS Nagar, and Sh. Puneet Mohan Sharma Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar, (Mohali) have urged the public to derive maximum benefits from the Lok Adalats as they provide cost free and quicker justice besides resolving the disputes amicably and stressed that the awards passed by the Lok Adalats are non appealable and final. They appealed to the public to approach the office of District Legal Services Authority, SAS Nagar, for Free Legal Aid and disposal of cases through Lok Adalats. The general public also appreciated the organizing of the Lok Adalat and derived maximum benefit from the same.
