Minister for Revenue, Javaid Mustafa Mir, today reviewed the functioning of the department in an officers meeting here.Minister of State for Revenue, Sunil Sharma was also present on the occasion.Expressing concern over conversion of agricultural land into commercial spots, the Minister directed the officers to keep a strict vigil over the agriculture land conversion as this would not only affect the agricultural production but will have worst impact on state’s economy. He said that the government is working under a well knit strategy to make state self-sufficient in agricultural production. “Commercialization of agricultural land would not be tolerated at any level”, he maintained.
He asked the officers to work with utmost sincerity and devotion to come up to the expectations of people as ensuring comfortable and convenient services should be their prime focus. The Revenue department is directly linked with the common man, he added saying that there should be no delay in issuing PRCs and other land related documents. He asked for maintaining proper record of applications regarding land issues submitted by the public.Emphasizing on regular field visits for effective implementation of development programmes, the Minister said that physical verification should form an integral part of official working.Referring to pending land compensation cases under NH road projects, the Minister asked for speedy disposal of these vital issues as these have direct impact on people’s livelihood.Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Deputy Commissioner Samba, ADC Jammu, Tehsildars and Naib Tehsildars of Jammu and Samba were also present in the meeting.
