Reviewing the progress of ration distribution as per Census-2011, the Minister for CA&PD and Tribal Affairs Department, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today asked the Deputy Commissioners to regularly upload the ration distribution data on CA&PD Department website.Interacting with the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of all the districts through video conferencing, the Minister sought update from them on ration distribution as per 2011 Census.

Secretary CA&PD Department Saurabh Bhagat, Secretary Tribal Affairs, Ashok Parmar, Director CA&PD Kashmir Abdul Rashid War, Director CA&PD Jammu, G S Chib and other officers were also present during the video conferencing. While asking DCs to constitute vigilance committees in their districts to monitor ration distribution, the Minister also stressed upon holding monthly meetings of “Price Fixation Committees”.

He also asked them to complete preparation of Aadhar cards before the implementation of National Food Safety Act (NFSA) which will be implemented in December this year.Besides asking for identifying land in their districts for the construction of Consumer Forum offices and tribal hostels, the DCs were also asked to review the labour charges for carriage of ration.Taking review of Eid-ul-Azha preparations, the Minister said that prices of edibles especially meat and bakery should be monitored and kept under control. On flood affected rice which was dumped post 2014 flood at various places, he asked the concerned DCs to form committees to check the amount of rotten rice which is not good for human consumption and provide a certificate to the department so that it would be cleared soon.Besides, the concerned DCs were asked to call on their Tehsildars to prepare a list of those consumers who did not get the free ration distributed by the government post-floods.DC Kishtwar was asked to ensure that 100 percent of dumping of ration is done this month only as the district remains cut off from the valley during winters. The places like Chasana, Sumgri, and Mahoor of Reasi district who were receiving ration from Jammu would now be getting their supply from Rajouri, the Minister said.
