District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Yasha Mudgal today chaired an interactive meeting with the civil society members at Dak Bungalow. SSP Baramulla, Mir Suhail, Joint Director Planning, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Tehsildar Baramulla and other officers were also present during the meeting.Members of Fruit Growers and Dealers Association, Auqaf Committee, Bapaar Mandal, Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and Social activists from different areas of district Baramulla were also present in the meeting.The main agenda of the meeting was to help address genuine demands of the public of the district and to formulate strategies and plans in such a way that the projects and works are streamlined and executed while keeping the demands in priority. A threadbare discussion was held during the meeting regarding the main public issues.

A thorough discussion was also held over the Greater Baramulla Plan, decongestion of old town Baramulla and road widening and macadamization process. The need for infrastructure development and the lack of sufficient staff in District Hospital Baramulla was the issue that most of the Civil Society members brought into the notice of the District Development Commissioner. Street lights, traffic management, parking facility, drainage, public toilets and sanitation in the towns, hygiene, Check on the growing population of stray dogs were among the other issues that were flagged in the meeting.

Moreover, the Civil Society members demanded that the agriculture and Horticulture departments must be re-vitalised; since the majority of the population of the district is dependent on these two sectors.Speaking on the occasion, Yasha Mudgal impressed upon the civil society members that they must coordinate and cooperate with the administration in making Baramulla a model district. The District Development Commissioner called for a joint effort and assured the attendants that the public issues and demands shall always be the priority during the implementation of plans and projects.
