Reiterating Government’s determination to provide better basic amenities to the people in every nook and corner of the State, Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Mr. Raman Bhalla today said that Government has taken several innovative measures to raise the living standard of the people including those residing in peripheral areas of the urban centers.The Minister was interacting with the people at public grievance redressal camps held at Jeevan Nagar, Udham Nagar and Nanak Nagar, here today.During the camps, the Minister assessed development related issues of the people and assured these would be mitigate on priority basis.Officers of PHE, PDD, JMC, R&B and UEED were present on the occasion.Mr. Bhalla said instructions have been issued to the allied department to launch door-to-door visit for solving developed related issues of the people on priority basis. He said Government was committed to provide every infrastructural facilities to the people at their door step.Mr. Bhalla asked the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to complete all the works like up-gradation of lanes and drains with grating, modernisation of nallah within stipulated time frame.

The Minister said people’s participation is imperative in the development of the state as they are the main stakeholders in this process. He called upon the people to extend their cooperation and keep a watch on the implementation of schemes for better results on the ground.

Mr. Bhalla also directed the PHE functionaries to lay water supply pipes in the water deficit areas of the Nanak Nagar and Udham Nagar. He also directed them to complete the digging work well before the start of up-gradation work of lanes and drains, including internal link roads.The Minister said that Government has spent crores of rupees to provide improved basic amenities to the people across the State, adding the execution of several ambitious projects under PHE, R&B, JMC and ERA are under progress on war-footing in every corner of the State. He said focused attention was being paid towards increasing power generation in the State, adding several macro, micro and mini power projects have been taken up for which besides State, the Centre is providing liberal financial assistance to the State Government.

Earlier, Mr. Bhalla also flagged off rally of about 1000 students and teachers of Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar, organised in connection with ‘World Aids Day’.Principal of the School Mr. Rameshwar Mengi was present on the occasion.The Rally marched from school premises to Satwari Chowk. Students were carrying banners and placard in their hands and shouting slogans like ‘Alert Today-Save Tomorrow and AIDS Bhagao-Desh Bachao.
