 Janmashtami, was observed in Srinagar and other parts of Kashmir with religious fervor and all the temples of Lord Krishan in the state were fully decorated.Dozens of Kashmiri Pandits also took out a procession here to celebrate 'Janamashtami.According to KNS correspondent the management of some temples organized special early morning and mid night prayers on the day.“City markets witnessed customers who bought traditional decorative items. Flowers, ‘jhula’ (cradle) and collecting raw materials for special cuisines to fast on Janmashtami, women and young girls left no stone unturned to make the festival a memorable one” the reports said.According to reports the devotees thronged temples and offered special prayers and celebration was also reported from few other places of Kashmir.

Janmashtami festival was also celebrated with festive rituals at their homes and temples.Long queues were witnessed at Shankaracharya temple and Hunuman Mandir at Amira Kadal where devotees paid obeisance.Special prayers were also held for the peace and prosperity of State.Reports also said that dozens of Kashmiri Pandits took out a procession here to celebrate Janamashtami.“The procession began from a temple at Barbarshah locality and passed through the city's nerve centre Lal Chowk before concluding at the place of its origin,” one of the local pandith told KNS.

 Meanwhile KNS Jammu correspondent has reported that all the temples of Lord Krishan in Jammu and other parts of the region were also fully decorated where the functions continued to late midnight till the birth of Lord.According to reports there was a beeline of devotees in the temples and the main functions were held in Raghunath temple Jammu, Radha Krishan Mandir Geeta Bhawan Parade, Gadha Dhar Mandir, Old City, Radha Krishan Mandir Purani Mandi, Laxmi Narayan Mandir, Gandhi Nagar, International Society of Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Temple, Dream City Muthi, Geeta Satsang Ashram Muthi, Radha Krishan Temple Dharmal, Muthi, Radha -Krishan temple Sarore and other Krishna temples of Jammu region.Reports said that Raghunath temple gave a festive look as it was fully decorated befitting the occasion. There was a rush of devotees in the temple from early in the morning till late night. (KNS)
