To review the progress under various centrally and state sponsored schemes, Director Agriculture Kashmir Altaf Aijaz Andrabi today convened a meeting of officers of Srinagar District.He directed the officers to gear up their field functionaries to achieve the target of 34 hectares of traditional saffron land for rejuvenation of saffron corms under National Mission on Saffron. He further asked the officers and officials involved with the Saffron Mission to work in mission mode and educate the farmers about the package of practices to be utilized during rejuvenation.
Regarding the Mushroom scheme, the Director was informed that 400 bottles of spawn have already been booked with SKUAST-Kashmir and spawn production will start soon.He directed the Chief Agriculture Officer Srinagar to project requirements like Rabi seeds, keeping in view the seed replacement rate of various seeds well before, so that the inputs can be arranged and distributed among the farmers well in time. He cautioned the suppliers if they supply was found sub standard penalty clause will be implemented against them under Law.Director Agriculture was apprised that Rs. 24.69 crores have been financed to the farmers of district Srinagar under Kissan Credit Card Scheme.
