The Minister for Public Works, Floriculture, Gardens and Parks, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari Friday directed removal of barbed wire from Mubarak Mandi complex and asked the law enforcement agencies to ensure that the vehicles should not be parked inside the complex.Chairing a meeting here, the Minister instructed that fine should be imposed on the violators who park vehicles inside the Mubarak Mandi complex.MLA Jammu East Rajesh Gupta, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr. Pawan Kotwal, IGP Jammu Danish Rana, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Simrandeep Singh, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation Mandeep Kaur, Executive Director Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society Rajesh Khajuria, Vice Chairman JDA Mubarakh Singh, ADDC Jammu Anuradha Gupta and officials of the Department of R & B,Floriculture and other allied departments were also present in the meeting.The Minister asked the officials of the Department of Floriculture to renovate the benches and repair the non-functional fountains in Mubarak Mandi park on fast track basis in consultation with the ASI and Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society.
During the meeting, he instructed the officials to remove encroachments along the roadsides and drains in Jammu city as well as other Districts / Towns of Jammu division. He further stressed upon the VC JDA and Commissioner Jammu Municipality to have the encroachments over the Transport Nagar Narwal Nallah removed in order to prevent floods in adjacent areas.The Minister said that within the next 15 days, up-gradation work on a road length of 1000 km shall be taken up in Jammu division. He stressed on maintaining quality standards and adherence to the new thickness specifications viz 50 mm in Cities and Towns and 75 mm in rural areas. Divisional Commissioner Jammu was asked to specifically ensure adherence to quality parameters and third party inspection of the upgraded roads.
Earlier in the day, the Minister inspected Baghi Bahu and other prominent parks in Jammu city and asked the officials of the Department of Floriculture to upgrade and maintain cleanliness in these parks. He directed the Officers of the Department to upgrade the guesthouse at Baghi Bahu besides giving facelift to the Gate. He further directed that minor repairs of all the parks should be done immediately.While visiting parks in Gandhi Nagar area of Jammu City the Minister took strong notice of the erected tents by police / security personnel in these parks. He said as per the guidelines of the Supreme Court, public parks are meant to be used for public purposes only and the tents erected by police department in the parks be removed immediately.During his visit, the Minister inspected Bagh-e-Bahu Park, Govt Guest House nursery, Lohan Paloura park, Green Belt parks camp No. 1 and 2, Top Paloura park etc
Director Floriculture Ashok Gupta, Project Director Bagh-e-Bahu Sunil Misri, Executive Engineer Floriculture, Executive Engineer (R&B) Jammu, SP Jammu Rajiv Pandey, SE (R&B) Satpal Manhas, District Floriculture officer and AFOs accompanied the Minister during the visit.
