Maintaining the rich tradition of educational institutions Govt. Post Graduate College Rajouri today celebrated its 32nd Annual Day with great fervour and gaiety.Minister for Higher Education, Mohammed Akbar Lone was the chief guest and Minister of State for Health Mr. Shabir Ahmed Khan was Guest of Honour on the occasion.Prior to the celebrations of Annual Day the Ministers along with Director Colleges Dr. Tariq Ahmed Kawoosa, Principal GDC Rajouri ,Dr. J. A. Qazi were accorded guard of honour by the NCC Cadets of the college.
On the occasion the Higher Education Minister and Health Minister inaugurated the UGC Network Resource Centre and Automation of Central Library in the college.In his address the Higher Education Minister congratulated the students and college management for organizing such a wonderful programme. He said a Girls hostel would be constructed for the college and said that Rs 20 lakh would be provided for development of Botanical Garden, P.G. Dept. of Arabic, Construction of Internal roads, BBA Dept. He said that the matter for establishment of Women College at Rajouri would be taken up with Chief Minister.
Health Minister, Mr. Shasbir Ahmed Khan in his address assured for extending all possible help from the government for the development of the college. He stressed upon the students to pay special heed on their studies and bring laurels to the state by competing at National Level Competitive examinations.Thousands of students, members of Civil Society, faculty members, media persons witnessed this mega event which was jointly coordinated by Prof. Mohd Iqbal Raina and Prof. Asif Ajaz Lone Staff Secretary of the College.The programme commenced with the welcome Address and Annual Report presented by the Principal of the college. He highlighted the glinting achievements of the students, teachers and institution as a whole in academic and co-academic areas besides putting forth several demands for infrastructural and academic development of the College.
A colourful multilingual musical programme by students enthralled the audience and stole the show which was lauded by all and sundry.
Others who spoke and graced the occasion included Judicial Magistrate Mr. Muzaffar Khan, Prof. Mushtaq Lone ,Principal GDC Thanamandi, Prof. Haqeeqat Singh & Kuldeep Raj Gupta.Many illustrious students of the College were also awarded mementoes and certificates for exhibiting spectacular performances in scholastic and extra-scholastic areas.A book authored by Dr. Abdul Raouf HOD Maths was also released by the Ministers.
