Devendra Fadnavis Honours Marathi Film Legends at 60th & 61st Diamond Jubilee Maharashtra State Film Awards

In a grand celebration of Marathi cinema and cultural heritage, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today presented the 60th and 61st Diamond Jubilee Maharashtra State Marathi Film Awards in Mumbai. The event recognized outstanding contributions to the film industry across generations and genres.

The ceremony was graced by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar, Minister of State Adv. Ashish Jaiswal, and several other dignitaries.

Honouring Icons of Indian Cinema

Veteran actor Anupam Kher was awarded the prestigious Raj Kapoor Jeevan Gaurav Award 2024 for his versatile and impactful career.

Actress Kajol was posthumously honored with the Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award 2024 for her remarkable journey in Indian cinema. Her mother, veteran actress Tanuja, was present and received the award on her behalf.

Renowned actor-director Mahesh Manjrekar received the Chitrapati V. Shantaram Jeevan Gaurav Award for his exceptional contribution to filmmaking.

Celebrated ghazal singer Bhimrao Panchale was honored with the Ganasamragyi Lata Mangeshkar Award for his influence in the field of ghazal music.

Actress Mukta Barve received the Chitrapati V. Shantaram Special Contribution Award in recognition of her powerful performances and contribution to Marathi cinema.

In a special recognition of cultural preservation:

Ambassador Vishal Sharma was conferred with the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Maharasa Award for his role in including 12 forts of Shivaji Maharaj in the World Heritage list proposal.

The Akhil Maharashtra Climbing Mahasangh was also honored for its dedication to preserving Maharashtra’s forts and connecting youth to the state's historic legacy.

CM Fadnavis: "Marathi Cinema Has Enriched Indian Culture"

In his address, Chief Minister Fadnavis paid tribute to the legacy of Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Indian cinema, and highlighted how Marathi artists have enriched the cultural fabric of India through their creativity and talent.

He reaffirmed the state government's commitment to supporting the growth and development of the Marathi film industry, emphasizing the importance of art in shaping a culturally vibrant society.“Let us use the power of art to enrich lives, uphold our heritage, and inspire generations,” he concluded.
